Scientific Research

The College pays great attention and efforts to scientific research which conversely promotes the comprehensive strength of the College and its disciplines through research-driven teaching and talent training. From 2014 to 2019, researchers and students of the College have published more than 200 academic papers, 43 books, and undertaken 118 national, provincial and ministerial and other vertical and horizontal research programs, and their research results have continuously received academic awards, professional awards and honors at the national, provincial or ministerial level.

The Media Experiment and Practice Teaching Center of Tongji University is a media innovation practice platform integrating teaching, scientific research, social services and international exchange. In 2007, it was rated as a school-level demonstration center of Tongji University. Guided by the new media concept, the Center has become the core talent cultivation platform for the College by taking the media culture, media arts and media technology as the working point, breaking the barriers between disciplines and integrating teaching and experimentation methods. The Center also provides important support for the University’s general education in arts and is an indispensable force in the development of the University's Dual First-Class disciplines. The Center integrates its labs into six sections: Basic Platform, Converged Media, Future Imaging, Future Media, Trans-sensory Media, and Innovation Base.

The Omnimedia Research Institute is a practice platform for teaching and research in the College. It conducts research, consulting, production and other professional practice and social services relating to omnimedia, with a view to strengthening the integration of “production, study, research and practice” and promoting the development of the disciplines. The Omnimedia Research Institute has eight teacher media innovation studios, and eight research centers: Marxist News Concept Research Center, Urban and Rural Communication Research Center, Intelligent Media Research Center, Data Communication Research Center, New Media Culture Research Center, Film Culture Research Center, Emergency Management and Disaster Public Opinion Research Center, Art Communication Research Center.
