Using “omni-media” as one impetus and “holistic arts” as the other, the College of Arts & Media endeavors to drive its “growth” by leaps and bounds. It is committed to developing global talents, who have new perspectives, outlook and skills, in the field of arts and media.
Specifically, the Department of Communication, with journalism and communication at its core, focuses on the research of media culture, intelligent communication and urban-rural communication, which represent three research lines – mainstream, cutting-edge, and intersecting. Guided by the Marxist perspective on the news, this department intends to build itself into an organization featured by “omni-media”, through integrating all disciplines within the department. It strives to achieve breakthroughs and innovation-driven development relying on the three platforms of industry collaboration, international cooperation, and social services. Supported by research teams, the department will sail the ship “Omni-Media Institute” with the wind created by the joint efforts of the local authorities and Tongji, starting from discipline evaluation towards the destination of “impressive achievements”.
The Department of Music and Drama focuses on professional education, and also aims to provide university-wide services in respect to liberal education and culture promotion. Integrating professional and aesthetic education with campus culture, this Department endeavors to contribute to Tongji’s construction of Double First-Class University.
