The College of Arts & Media consists of two departments, namely the Department of Communication and the Department of Music and Performance. The College offers undergraduate study across six divisions: Radio & Television, Advertising, Radio & Television Directing, Performance and Music Performance. It also provides graduate programs, including Academic Master Degree Program in Journalism & Communication (a first-level discipline), Professional Master Degree Program in Journalism & Communication, Academic Master Degree Program in Design (a first-level discipline), and Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Degree Program in Arts & Design. In addition, we also offer Doctoral Program in New Media Art and Theory. Students who have completed the program will be conferred the Ph. D Degree in Design. “Arts & Design”, a collaborative program undertaken jointly by our College and the College of Design and Innovation, has been included in the list of first-class disciplines by the Ministry of Education of China (MEC), and was ranked the 13th in the world and the 1st in Asia in the QS World University Rankings.
Through the collaborative initiative program concluded by and between the University and the local authorities or entities, the College works closely with the Publicity Department of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and Shanghai Media Group (SMG) to achieve greater success. After years of efforts, it is now an education and training base for Shanghai excellent talents in journalism & communication, a council member of China-Europe Education Alliance for Humanities and Arts initiated by MEC, and an MEC-approved experimental zone for innovating the cultivation model for talents in digital art. Further, our Animation Program is accredited as a “featured specialty” by MEC.
