The application has all the instructions needed to complete it as well as additional documents to submit to apply for a visa.Due date for applications:Move in date and Orientation Date: TBDFor housing you have two options, on campus dorms and renting an apartment, both have positives and negatives.•On campus dorms:Plusses- close to classes, close to downtown shopping, surrounded by other students, Columbia housing office assistanceMinuses- expensive ($5000-$6,800 per semester, please refer to the Columbia website), far from Chicago cultural scene (cafes, restaurants, galleries, music, etc)•Apartment:Plusses- Cheaper than dorms/ living downtown (aprox. ~$2,500-$5000 per semester), experience authentic Chicago neighborhood living (closer to grocery, cafés, music, etc.)Minuses- farther from classes (15-40 min by bus/subway), you must find an apartment on your ownDepending on your preferences you may want to choose one over the other. If you wish to apply for on campus housing, then once you have completed your application, I will connect you with our housing office. If you wish to live off campus, and rent on your own, then I’m attaching a guide for how to find and evaluate an apartment in Chicago.
